SKY CITY CULTURAL CENTER
Sky City Cultural Center and Haak'u Museum is built in the shadow of Acoma Pueblo, known as "Sky City" because of its location atop a 350-foot-high, 70 acre mesa. No other city in America has been inhabited, without interruption, longer than Acoma. Dating back to 1150AD, the name "Acoma" was derived from the word "Haak'u" which means, "a place prepared." The ancestors of Acoma Pueblo came from Mesa Verde, then Chaco Canyon, and finally to the area that is now Acoma Pueblo, an enchanted valley with mesas, rock formations, and stunning colors. Come, experience the timeless wonder and unique beauty of Acoma Sky City!
